After I finished my first half marathon in 2:25:04 I had the greatest intentions of continuing to run with different goals I wanted to reach. First, I wanted to get a sub 2:00 half marathon time. Once I achieved that goal, I wanted to dive into training for a full marathon. Instead, I got lazy, and stopped running, basically stopped exercising all together. After gaining about 15 pounds from my inactivity, and being disappointed that I stopped running, I decided in February of this year to start running again.
I ran the same half marathon the last two years, and I trained with Hal Higdon’s Half Marathon Training Guide-Novice 1. I did not train quite hard enough, and did not obtain my goal of running a sub 2:00 half. But I did PR by almost 16 minutes with a time of 2:09:12.
I LOVE the way running makes me feel. Sometimes it can be a struggle to get myself to the gym, or to hit the pavement, but once I finish the run, I feel invincible. Running makes me feel stronger physically, and mentally. I am excited for the new goals I have set for myself, and I am excited that you are here to follow me on my journey of running my way to a full.
